Long House

This proposal for a large family house in County Kildare in the Republic of Ireland was organised around a large partially enclosed courtyard. This contemporary rural home was stretched over a large site, to create distinct areas for family living, guest accommodation, and workspace. At the heart of the house was a double-height space, which gathered together the kitchen, living, and dining spaces, as well as a discrete upper floor gallery-and engaged directly with the landscaped courtyard garden.
